Yes they are aggressive compared to most fish. They will nip each other all day long. You need an overstocked tank, so the aggression is shared, and enough hiding places as well. Also you should add melanochromis johanni last, let the other fish get a foothold first!

Hi Naz, Tiger barbs (Capoeta tetrazona) are definate fin nippers. Especially on gouramis. They treat all fish as other tiger barbs, and when they do not act ‘barbishly’ enough they will be bullied.
