I’m trying to devise a biotope aquarium featuring African ciclids (not great lakes cichlids though) – maybe Pseudocrenilabrus nicholsi, a couple elephant nosed fish and some barbs. The whole thing will be full of anubias, bogwood, and maybe lillies. So what barbs are appropriate. I’m having trouble finding species, but I can order some. Can […]

Hi Trevor, they are such a lovely fish, but you were right to ask about pros and cons. Pros: they will recognize you; feed from the hand, act like a ‘proper’ pet Cons: they’ll eat all your plants! Also the lovely striped yound in pet shops loose those nice stripes! I have kept severums for […]

Aquarium Fish :: View topic – Corys
Corys (most anyway) are pretty easy to breed really. I have had continual sucess simply by doing a large water change, and then topping up with cooler water. Of course, they do like to be well fed first, but if they are, the water change does the rest. As the previous poster stated this simulates […]

Aquarium Fish :: View topic – elephant nosed fish
Hi scaligi, I would try feeding them at night. They are nocturnal, but mine do feed a little during the day. also worms are a good food. Bloodworm, whiteworm, even tubifex. Chuck in a cube of bloodworm, just after lights out every day. this should help!
