How to look afterCorydoras panda

Panda corydoras, Panda catfish

Nijssen & Isbrucker, 1971

(Other members of the genus Corydoras)

ADULT SIZE: 5 cm

WATER CONDITIONS: Not critical

TEMPERATURE RANGE: 22-26 C

FOOD: Feed Corydoras panda small live-foods and fine grade dried foods

DISTRIBUTION: This species comes from Peru, Ecuador

AQUARIUM CARE: C. panda comes from faster moving rivers at the foothills of the Peruvian and Ecuadorian Andes, hence the requirement for slightly cooler tank conditions. A South-American river set up is best; a fine-grade sand or gravel substrate, well-planted and with clean, cool, and well-oxygenated water. Water/gravel cleanliness is paramount in this species, otherwise disease outbreaks are likely. Like all Corys, it should be kept in a group of at least six individuals.

Generally a good community fish if kept with peaceful species of a similar size, characins, killifish etc. Avoid aggressive bottom dwellers.

BREEDING: Like all Corys, spawning can be induced in a well-fed pair, by a large water change of slightly cooler water.
