How to look afterCorydoras hastatus

ADULT SIZE: 3 cm

WATER CONDITIONS: Not critical

TEMPERATURE RANGE: 20-24 C

FOOD: Feed Corydoras hastatus small live-foods and fine grade dried foods. Also enjoys smaller freshwater crustaceans: Daphnia, Moina, cyclops, and of course brine shrimp.

DISTRIBUTION: This species comes from Brazil, Paraguay

SEXUAL DIFFERENCES: Males are significantly smaller than females.

AQUARIUM CARE: This very small Cory enjoys a well-planted tank, preferably shaded to some extent with floating plants. It prefers a sandy bottom, allowing it to spend time searching around the substrate for morsels of food. Not just a bottom dweller however, regularly seen in the middle strata of the tank.

These small delicate Corys will not thrive with boisterous tank mates. Best kept in a species tank or with other small gentle species, tetras etc. As a shoaling species it should be kept with at least six individuals, though preferably more, in a group.

BREEDING: Breeds like other members of the genus. Eggs are laid in mops/moss after a water change of cooler water.
